How it works

The UAE five-corner model, explained.

Invoices travel between businesses over the Peppol network through accredited service providers. As the invoice is exchanged, its tax data is reported to the Federal Tax Authority. Baats sits at the start of that chain and makes sure what leaves is right.

What Baats checks before sending

  • Seller and buyer TRNs, and the buyer's Peppol address, are present and correctly formatted.
  • Every line has a VAT category, rate and amount that add up, in AED or with an AED equivalent.
  • Invoice type, dates, payment terms and the emirate of supply are set.
  • Credit notes reference the invoice they correct.

What you do

  • Appoint an accredited service provider and connect it in settings. We guide you through it.
  • Create invoices as normal. Baats shows any missing detail before you press send.
  • Watch each invoice move from validated to sent to reported.

Common questions

E-invoicing, in plain words.

Is a PDF invoice an e-invoice?

No. An e-invoice is a structured data file that software can read without a person typing it in. A PDF can travel with it as a readable copy, but the structured PINT AE file is what counts for compliance.

Is Baats an accredited service provider?

Baats is your invoicing and accounting software. It prepares and checks each e-invoice and connects to the accredited service provider you appoint, which carries the invoice over Peppol and reports to the FTA. Ask us in your demo which providers Baats connects to.

What happens if an invoice is rejected?

Baats shows the reason in plain language next to the invoice, points to the field that needs fixing, and lets you resend with one click. Nothing is posted to your books twice.

Can I start before my deadline?

Yes. Any business can adopt e-invoicing voluntarily once it meets the technical requirements. Starting early gives your team time to get used to the new flow before it is mandatory.

How long do I keep e-invoices?

Baats archives each e-invoice in its original format with its status history, so you can produce it for an audit. Check the record-keeping period that applies to you with your tax adviser.
