The UAE mandate

Paper and PDF invoices stop counting in 2027.

The UAE is moving business-to-business and business-to-government invoices onto a structured e-invoicing network run on Peppol. Every invoice will travel through an accredited service provider, and its tax data goes to the Federal Tax Authority. Baats puts you on the new system from your first invoice.

  1. Pilot and voluntary start

Pilot participants test the system. Any business that is ready can start voluntarily.

  2. Revenue AED 50m or more

Large businesses go live. Accredited service provider appointed by 30 October 2026.

  3. Revenue under AED 50m

All other businesses go live. Accredited service provider appointed by 31 March 2027.

  4. Government entities

Federal and local government move their invoicing onto the network.

Dates from the UAE Ministry of Finance phased implementation decisions, including the later extension of the first service provider deadline. Rules can change, so confirm your own dates with your tax adviser.

Easy to use

Built for business owners, not just accountants.

Most accounting tools assume you already know double-entry bookkeeping. Baats starts from the jobs you do every week and handles the accounting underneath.

Missing the deadline

What non-compliance can cost.

The UAE has set administrative penalties for businesses that are not ready. Baats is built so that none of these apply to you.

Getting started

Live on Baats in an afternoon.

  1. Set up your company

Add your trade licence, TRN and logo, and say whether you are mainland or free zone. Bring in customers, items and opening balances from a spreadsheet.

  2. Connect your service provider

Link the accredited service provider you have appointed, or ask us which ones Baats works with. We walk you through each screen.

  3. Send your first e-invoice

Create an invoice as you always have. Baats validates, sends and archives it, then posts it to your books and your VAT return.

Questions

What UAE businesses ask us first.

Does my business need e-invoicing?

If you are a UAE business issuing invoices to other businesses or to government, the e-invoicing system applies to you. Revenue of AED 50 million or more goes live on 1 January 2027 and everyone else on 1 July 2027. Sales to consumers are not yet on the timetable.

What is an accredited service provider, and do I still need one?

Yes. In the UAE model, every e-invoice is exchanged through an accredited service provider on the Peppol network. Baats prepares each invoice in the PINT AE format and connects to your provider, so your team keeps one simple workflow.

Does Baats work for free zone companies?

Yes. Mark each company as mainland or free zone, keep designated zone supplies separate for VAT, and tag qualifying and non-qualifying income for corporate tax.

Do I need accounting knowledge to use it?

No. You work with invoices, bills, payments and bank lines. Baats keeps the ledger, VAT and reports correct in the background, and your accountant can log in whenever they need to.

Can I move from my current software?

Yes. Import customers, suppliers, items and opening balances from Excel or CSV. Our team helps every new customer with their first import at no charge.
